Translation means to move or slide. Whenever you make a translation the shape should still be congruent. If you look at the example picture above you can see that we used the coordinates to translate the triangle. the coordinates for point A is (-8,6),B is (-8,9), and lastly C is (-4,6). Since in the example we are going to move the coordinates 9 units to the X direction, we are going to take X axis coordinates from A,B,and C and add 9. From that our new X axis for coordinates for A,B, and C will be 1,1, and 5. Then in the translation we are moving 4 units downwards in the y direction. So, well will take the all the Y axis coordinate points from A,B,and C and subtracts 4 from each one.FRom this we will get new coordinate y axis points which will be 2,5, and 2. With our new coordinate points we will check our math and translate them on our graph. But instead of calling our new coordinate points A,B and C, we will call them A',B', and C'.
